Before the Blog: My Story!

I’m excited to share my journey, and I how I got here. For those who know me, you might be wondering if I’m still doing hair? YES, absolutely! and those who don’t know me, welcome to my blog!

Which leads to the next question you might have: Why a new journey? And why insurance? Good Question! Being a hairstylist for over 25 years, I love my job, my clients, and the relationships I have made over the years. My feelings about insurance- isn’t exactly the same! So why in the world would I want to get my license? Here’s why- because of my own personal medical journey. In 2012, I was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder- MPS VI ( I’ll talk about what that is in another post) This diagnosis would require weekly infusions- for life! Many different doctor appointments, surgeries, yearly tests, MRI’s and CT scans. Thank goodness for insurance! Until the insurance I’ve had for years-is now out of network with my providers, not to mention, this happened the same year I was scheduled to have open heart surgery, I had an aortic valve replacement. I quickly learned the terms like- in-network, out of network, prior authorization etc. And that is when my frustration with insurance began. I was left going between the insurance company and medical billing, trying to get anywhere with the insurance company left me feeling very frustrated. It felt like a full time-time job, only I was left with the bill, not a paycheck.

When I was given the opportunity to get my insurance license, my first thought was whether I’d be able to retain all the information- there was so much to learn. To my surprise, not only did I retain it, but genuinely enjoyed the process. I became passionate about Long-Term Care (LTC)- maybe because it was something I could relate with. The need for LTC is real- as in 70% of people 65 and older will need some form of LTC in their lifetime. I’m finding out specializing in LTC, it’s an area not a lot of us our familiar with. As an agent, it is my goal to help my clients plan for the future with Long-Term Care Insurance. Just like in my hair world, I take pride in making everyone of my clients feel their very best, and I’ll do the same in my LTC world. My Mission is to ensure my clients feel confident in their decisions, giving them a piece of mind knowing their health, finances, and quality of life is protected. I feel very blessed that I get to go to work, loving what I do, all while building trust and relationships.

Let’s grab a cup of coffee!
