More Than a Long Weekend: Heading Into Summer.
There’s just something about heading into summer that feels lighter. The days get longer, calendars start filling up with BBQs, golf tournaments, lake days, family vacations, and late sunsets that somehow make everything feel a little easier.
Memorial Day weekend often feels like the unofficial start to it all. For many of us, it’s a long weekend filled with family, food, laughter, and maybe finally pulling the patio furniture back out again. Kids are counting down the days until summer break, and parents are wondering how time somehow moves this fast.
Memorial Day is also more than just the beginning of summer; it’s a time to pause and remember the men and women who gave their lives serving our country. The freedoms we enjoy every day, the simple moments, the family gatherings, the ability to build a life we love, all came at a cost paid by others. That perspective has a way of making the little moments feel bigger. Maybe That’s what summer really reminds us of too; how important time is.
One minute we’re buying popsicles and sunscreen for little kids, and the next we’re watching them grow into teenagers with summer jobs, golf lessons, driver’s permit, and dreams that suddenly feels right around the corner. Summer has a way of showing us both joy and the reality at the same time. It reminds us to enjoy the present but also think ahead. Which is one of the reasons I became passionate about planning and protection through DeWaard Insurance LLC. Whether it’s life insurance, retirement planning, or long-term care conversations, it’s never really just about policies, it’s about creating options for the future while we’re still heathy enough to plan for it. It’s about making sure the people we love are cared for someday, even when life doesn’t go exactly according to plan.
The truth is, most people don’t love talking about insurance. I get it. But almost everyone loves talking about their families, their goals, their future, and the life they’re trying to build. And that’s where meaningful planning really begins.
As we head into summer, I hope you soak up the moments, the early morning coffee, the busy sports schedules, the backyard dinners, the vacations, the laughter, the chaos, and all the quiet moments in between, because these are the moments that matter. If somewhere between summer plans and Costco runs you’ve been meaning to review old policies, ask questions about long-term care, or simply understand what options are available for your family’s future.
Let’s chat over some coffee, and conversations.
